The Interaction: Where Recognition Becomes Visible

Other people cannot see recognition, perception, or intention directly. They experience what becomes visible through the way we receive and respond. The interaction creates the opportunity; the response is where recognition is expressed.

A guest hears our tone. An employee experiences the way we correct. A student notices whether we listen. A patient feels whether an explanation is rushed. A customer recognizes whether we are solving a problem or trying to get rid of one.

True Hospitality™ is not constant pleasantness. Some important interactions are difficult. We may need to say no, hold a standard, deliver bad news, correct performance, or respond to anger. The question is whether truth and Human Worth can remain together in the same interaction.

The visible response may last only seconds: the way a name is spoken, the patience of an explanation, eye contact, the tone of a correction, or the willingness to listen before responding.

That is where the invisible becomes visible.
