Dr. Rudy Cardona is an author, professor, and consultant whose work brings together hospitality, business, marketing, leadership, and human development. Drawing from decades of experience in the hospitality industry and higher education, he explores how recognizing Human Worth can transform everyday interactions, organizations, and communities.
Dr. Cardona holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Trident University, and an MBA and a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas. He served as general manager of a hotel in Costa Rica and as MBA Program Director at Keiser University in Melbourne, Florida. He currently teaches at Keiser University, online and at its campus in Managua, Nicaragua.
A Life Shaped by Hospitality, Education, and Human Connection
Dr. Rudy Cardona’s journey began in the hospitality industry, where he learned firsthand that meaningful service is never simply about completing a transaction. Working directly with guests and later in management, he came to understand that the encounters people remember most are those in which they feel genuinely seen, respected, and valued.
That understanding followed him into higher education, where his work as a professor and academic leader brought hospitality into conversation with business, marketing, leadership, consumer behavior, and human development. Across the classroom, organizational settings, and years of professional experience, one question continued to shape his thinking: What changes in an encounter when we begin by recognizing the inherent worth of the person before us?
That question ultimately became the foundation of his work on True Hospitality™ and his book, Restoring Hospitality: Recognizing Human Worth in Every Interaction. His work proposes that hospitality reaches beyond service, courtesy, or customer satisfaction. At its deepest level, it begins with Human Worth and becomes visible through the way we recognize, perceive, decide how to respond, and finally respond to another human being.
The Work Today
Today, Dr. Cardona continues developing True Hospitality™ as an educational and organizational framework with applications in leadership, hospitality, business, education, and everyday human interaction. His work includes writing, research, educational programs, seminars, organizational training, and resources designed to help individuals and organizations make Human Worth visible in the way people are encountered and treated.
Through this work, Dr. Cardona seeks to move hospitality beyond service performance and toward a deeper human responsibility: recognizing the worth already present in every person and allowing that recognition to shape how we see, respond, and interact.
